OPEN CALL: GRAZ - CITY WRITER / GRAZER STADTSCHREIBERIN 2023-2024

The current City Graz City Writer - guest has just settled at the “Dichterklause” Cerrini on the Schloßberg in Graz, has openned a call for the period between 9/2023-8/2024.

Within the literary scholarship Graz City Writer international authors are invited by the Cultural Department to Graz for one year to take a personal view at our city from the outside position and to dedicate themselves to their literary development.

Duration of fellowship: September 2023 to August 2024 
Deadline Application: 31st March, 2023

The condition of participation is an announced literary project to be worked on during the stay.

The scholarship award provides a free apartment in the historic Cerrini-Schlössl on the Schloßberg Graz in the middle of the city as well as a monthly allowance of Euro 1,300.

The residency is well known in the international literary scene and is accordingly widely recognized. In 2022 there were a total of 59 applications from 21 countries.

The 2022/2023 scholarship went to Abdelaziz Baraka Sakin, who was born in Sudan in 1963. He is considered one of the most important voices of Arabic-language literatures in the European diaspora.

Accompanying the authors during their year in Graz which is correspondingly time-consuming and has been carried out by the team of Kulturvermittlung Steiermark in agreement and coordination with the Cultural Office Graz for around 25 years.
