The Slovenian Book Agency (JAK) prepares Guest of Honour Appearance at Frankfurter Buchmesse 2022 / Official agreement to be signed in early 2018  

Slovenia’s participation will become official with the signing of the appropriate bilateral agreement, which is being negotiated at the moment. The signing ceremony will take place in the participating country. The Directors of the Slovenian Book Agency (JAK) and the Frankfurt Book Fair are hoping to sign the agreement in early 2018.

Renata Zamida, head of the project “Slovenia – Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair”:
“The government of the Republic of Slovenia entrusted the Slovenian Book Agency (JAK) with the implementation of the project. The activities began to take shape in 2015 when the Slovenian delegation officially submitted a bid book to the executive board of the Frankfurter Buchmesse. The agreement is usually signed three years before the designated guest of Honour’s scheduled participation. However, experience shows that the longer the preparation period (which includes the time foreign publishers have at disposal to research the book market of the Guest-of-Honour-to-be), the better and more sustainable the results of the project turn out to be.”

The list of Guests of Honour at Frankfurter Buchmesse for the upcoming five-year period thus includes the following countries: Georgia (2018), Norway (2019), Canada (2020). Agreements with Spain (2021) and Slovenia (2022) to be signed in early 2018.
