Slovenian events at this year's Leipzig Book Fair (23-26 March 2017)
Hall 4.0 in close proximity to the Slovenian booth will feature a comic art/graphic novel exhibition titled Alma M. Karlin – Svetovljanka iz province (Alma M. Karlin: A Provincial Cosmopolitan Woman – artist: Jakob Klemenčič, story: Marijan Pušavec, Forum, 2015).

BINGO OR LIFE!
Suzana Tratnik and Maike Nedo will discuss the author’s most recent novel Tombola ali življenje (Bingo or Life), published by the Mladinska knjiga publishing house. The discussion will also revolve around Tratnik’s novel Ime mi je Damjan (My name is Damian), which was also published in German (Mein Name ist Damian) by the Milena Verlag in 2005. Students from two local grammar schools are scheduled to interpret excerpts from Suzana Tratnik’s novels live on stage.

Dino Bauk and journalist Doris Akrap are scheduled to sit down on the famed red sofa of the Tageszeitung newspaper at a distinguished fair location to discuss the German translation of Bauk’s debut novel Konec.Znova (The End. Again).

BALKAN TO GO
The Drava publishing house invites eager visitors to attend a literary evening of its most acclaimed authors, among them Andrej E. Skubic, who will preveal the German translation of his novel Lahko (Easy). The event will be hosted by German journalist and film and book scholar Ernst Garndits.

Balkans Night hosted by the Traduki Network (under the motto Not West, Not East – Alchemy of the Balkans)
The scheduled discussion about the good sides of the Balkans and the subsequent literary reading will feature Suzana Tratnik, Boštjan Videmšek, Georgi Gospodinov, Slobodan Šnajder, Gabriela Adamesteanu, Ridvan Dibra, Milena Marković, Namik Kabil, Patrick Boltshauser and Damir Karakas.
Visitors will be treated to tastings of beer by assorted Slovenian boutique breweries.

ALMA M. KARLIN – A PROVINCIAL COSMOPOLITAN WOMAN
Moderator Amalija Maček, Marijan Pušavec (writer of the story for the namesake graphic novel and "Alma connoisseur") and Britta Jürgs of the AvivA publishing house (scheduled to publish an Alma Karlin biography in German) will provide insight about the life and times of Slovenian cosmopolitan and world traveller Alma Karlin.

Boštjan Videmšek and his German publisher (KLAK VERLAG) are scheduled to present the German translation of the author’s groundbreaking coverage book Na Begu (On the Run. Modern Exodus), originally published by UMco in 2016.
