Translation Seminar for Translators of Slovenian Literature into German, Ljubljana 13th – 16th August 2016
Eight participants will convene under the guidance of German writer and lecturer Matthias Göritz and German translator and interpreter Rosemarie Linde. The seminar will revolve around selected excerpts (from the works Kronosova žetev (The Harvest of Chronos) by Mojca Kumerdej and Zlata mačja preja (Golden Cat Yarn) by Svetlana Makarovič), which the participants have translated into German prior to the workshop. The following participants will take part in the specialist part of the seminar: Barbara Anderlič, Urška Brodar, Tamara Kerschbaumer, Erwin Köstler, Tadeja Lackner Naberžnik, Andrea Leskovec, Christiane Leskovec and Sebastian Walcher.
In the initial workshop, scheduled for Sunday, 14th August, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the participants will discuss Mojca Kumerdej's text with the mentors and the author herself. At 6:15 PM, the introductory session will be followed by a literary-tourist boat ride along the Ljubljanica river. During this occasion, Amalija Maček and Mojca Kumerdej will converse about the author's latest work, the novel Kronosova žetev (The Harvest of Chronos, Beletrina, 2016).
In the second workshop, scheduled for Monday, 15th August, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the participants will discuss the chapters Ščeper and Mba from Svetlana Makarovič's book Zlata mačja preja (Golden Cat Yarn). The renowned and acclaimed Slovenian author is also scheduled to attend. The final act of the seminar will be a screening of the movie Houston, imamo problem! (Houston, We Have A Problem! (2016)) directed by Žiga Virc. The matinee is scheduled for Monday, 15th August, at 9 PM, at the Open-Air Cinema of the Slovenian Cinematheque (Metelkova terrace).
Several participants of the first specialist Translation Seminar for Translators of Slovenian Literature into German are also scheduled to participate at the traditional Translation Seminar in Novo mesto.
