On 1 January 2020 the VAT for books and other printed and e-publications in Slovenia will be reduced from 9,5% to 5%. The Slovenian parliament was unanimous on this proposal made by the Slovenian publishing and media industry and supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Slovenian Book Agency.

We believe this measure represents an important support to the Slovenian publishing industry, which needs not only cultural and political but also economic measures, if we wish to preserve diversity, quality and availability of books in Slovenian language.
