Art exhibition "Lichtungen" by Mirko Rajnar
Opening: Thursday, November 9 at 7:00 pm
Rajnar's paintings represent soft membranes between the physical and the metaphysical, the everyday and the non-everyday. Light and circularly melting spots are carriers of secrets in an iconographic sense, symbols of hope and new life. The points and cuts of light shining through to the surface invite us to look beyond the picture. The light phenomena in Rajnar's pictures often represent the unexpected and strange, reminding us that what happens does not have to conform to our expectations and has a logic of its own. Curator Irma Brodnjak Firbas.
Mirko Rajnar (1961) graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana in 1988. At the beginning of his career he concentrated mainly on figurative art, but later he found his artistic expression in less tangible art. His color expression also developed, as he initially worked mainly with pure and strong colors, but soon moved on to brighter and more mysterious tones.
His paintings are subordinated to an external experience, an impression of the Prekmurje landscape, which is defined by a long expanse with a low horizon. Rajnar conveys his characteristic haze in a special sfumato technique. Mirko Rajnar is one of the best-known painters in the Prekmurje region. He lives and works in Murska Sobota.
In cooperation with Alte Schmiede and Bahoe Art House.
