Exhibition LUV BIRDS IN DEAD ANGELS by MARUŠA SAGADIN

21 SEPTEMBER 2023 - 14 JANUARY 2024

Who builds what, for whom and where? Influenced by architectural history, Maruša Sagadin (*1978) explores the underlying social aspects of a building or site. Her artistic work moves at the interface of private and public space and combines elements of architecture, sculpture and painting.

Sagadin uses humour and exaggeration in her formal language and in the use of colour to reveal mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion and to break with established codes of viewing art. Playfully subversive, her works refer to elements of pop and subculture and applied art. In the interplay of gender, language and sculpture, they subvert existing norms and thematise sculpture as a form of making things visible.

On the occasion of Slovenia's guest of honour appearance at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023, the artist will realise new works in the rotunda of the SCHIRN that address the specific nature of the semi-public space.
