Their voices merge into the single voice of Grandmother Vera, who tells her story in proper detail. The 2023 European Film Award for Best Short Film.
On Wings of Paper (Na papirnatih avionih)
MatjaĹž KlopÄiÄ, Slovenia (Yugoslavia), 1967, 35mm, 1.66, B&W, 79', English subtitles
With his camera, photographer Marko (Polde BibiÄ) captures a girl (SnjeĹžana NikĹĄiÄ) whom he would like to meet. The girl is a ballet dancer who lives alone with her mother. The photographer meets her by chance and they take a walk in the park. Later, he phones her, asking her to describe her room. In winter, he rents a cottage in the mountains, where they make love. They also go to a party together. Despite her motherâs disapproval, the ballet dancer decides to get married. A movingly beautiful love poem, a manifesto of KlopÄiÄâs modernism.
