Slovenian Film Retrospective: Hey, Triglav, My Home and In The Realm of Goldenhorn

Hey, Triglav, My Home (O, Triglav, moj dom)

Laibach, komposter, Slovenia, 2023, DCP, colour, 6'

The famous Slovenian folk song Oj, Triglav, moj dom (Hey, Triglav, My Home) was written in 1894 by the priest, poet and translator Matija Žemljic under the pseudonym 'Slavin' and was inspired by the German patriotic song O Schwarzwald, o Heimat. A year later, Jakob Aljaž, also a priest and a great admirer of Slovenia's highest mountain, Triglav, set the song to music. Laibach, one of the most famous and important Slovenian bands, chose the song for their performance at the opening ceremony of Planica 2023 – FIS Nordic World Ski Championships.
