Description:
Alma Karlin was born in Celje and was, during the interwar period, deemed as the most read female author of travel literature who wrote in the German language. She published successful travelogues and detailed her experiences in Peru, Panama, Japan, the Pacific and Indonesia. The conversation will focus on her journey through Peru and how she discovered the important Peruvian historiographer Inco Garcilaso de la Vega (1539-1616) as well as her role as an intermediary of knowledge and the particular literary form of her travel literature.
