  Being one of the future Guests of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair, Slovenia presents a new, redesigned and enlarged national stand in Hall 5.0.
• 20. 09. 2017 OPEN CALL FOR STAY IN THE RESIDENCE OF SLOVENE WRITERS’ ASSOCIATION FOR AUTHORS/TRANSLATOR
  The residency programme is addressed to writers with at least two published works, as well as literary translators who have completed their training and have published at least two literary translations (students are not eligible). Translators are only eligible if they translate Slovenian literature into a foreign language. Preference will be given to those authors/translators whose project will contribute to the promotion and presence of Slovenian literature and humanities on the world stage.

  Between 14 and 18 august 2017, the Slovenian Book Agency (JAK) organized the second specialist Translation Seminar for Translators of Slovenian Literature into German.
• 02. 08. 2017 7th International Translation Seminar for Translators of Slovenian Literature, Maribor, 27 June – 2 July 2017
  Between 27 June and 2 July 2017, the Slovenian Book Agency and the Maribor Youth Culture Centre (MKC Maribor) hosted the 7th International Translation Seminar for Translators of Slovenian Literature into foreign languages. The seminar took place at the new location of the Maribor Youth Culture Centre. The organizers welcomed 12 distinguished translators, whom they provided with an inside look into the current state of contemporary Slovenian literature and the opportunity to work with acclaimed Slovenian authors, critics, publishers, lecturers and an international forum of colleagues.
• 26. 06. 2017 Featuring: »Novel of the Year« short-listed Titles
  The Midsummer Eve in Slovenia is traditionally booked for the Kresnik Award for the best novel of the year. Every year, over one hundred novels enter the selection process, while the jury chooses the nominees. The winner is announced at the ceremony, where he or she receives a cash prize and is given the honour of lighting the traditional bonfire at the top of the Rožnik hill accompanied by the midsummer procession.This year's final five nominees were: Mojca Kumerdej, Tadej Golob, Gašper Kralj, Tomo Podstenšek and Goran Vojnović. Finally and after much deliberation, the 2017 Kresnik Award was awarded to Goran Vojnović for his fascinating novel The Fig Tree (Figa).
• 21. 06. 2017 International Visits
  At the yearly National Publishing Congress on June 6th we hosted Suhrkamp's Petra Hardt and translated her book Buying, Protecting and Selling Rights. In addition to the lecture she gave at the congress, she had a workshop on rights issues at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana, where also the picture was taken.
• 21. 06. 2017 Phébus Editor Nils Ahl About the Slovenian Literature Phenomenon
  On 8 April, also known as International Romani Day, the French Phébus publishing house (part of the Libella Group) published Liza Japelj Carone’s French translation of the novel Namesto koga roža cveti titled Halgato, penned by Feri Lainšček, one of the most acclaimed representatives of contemporary Slovenian literature. Before the book’s official launch, a French delegation of journalists and Phébus representative travelled to Slovenia to visit the enchanting region of Prekmurje, the main inspiration for Lainšček’s works.During the occasion, an interview with Nils Ahl, editor-in-chief of Phébus’s literary translations department was done. What follows is a brief summary of the conversation.
