SLOVENIAN PROGRAM AT LEIPZIGER BUCHMESSE 2023 (27. 4. 2023–30. 4. 2023)
The Leipzig Book Fair is back after a three-year absence. This year, Slovenian Book Agency will once again be welcoming visitors at its stand in International Hall 4 (D403), where books by Slovenian authors, selected by Slovenian publishers, and a selection of the latest translations, especially into German, will be available on display. The Book Fair is also the venue for one of the largest literary festivals in Europe, Leipzig liest (Leipzig Reads), with more than 3,000 events taking place at the fair, in the city and in the surrounding area. We have organised an extended literary and accompanying programme featuring Slovenian authors, presenting their latest translations. The programme has been organised in cooperation with SKICA Berlin, the TRADUKI network, the Leipzig Book Fair and national and international publishers. On 28 April 2023, the press conference of the Slovenia: Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023 project will take place on the stage of Traduki-Kafan (International Hall 4, D407). The press conference will be attended by Acting Director of Slovenian Book Agency, Katja Stergar, and the two curators, Miha Kovač and Matthias Göritz, in addition to Director of Frankfurter Buchmesse, Jürgen Boos. The event will also be attended by Slovenian Ambassador to Berlin, Ana Polak Petrič, who will host the post-conference reception together with the Head of the SKICA Berlin Cultural Centre, Saša Šavel Burkart.
The programme of the bookfair will be launched on 25 April 2023, with a poetry and music evening, Closing for three poetry machines in Leipzig, at the Leipzig Literary House, and will continue with a condensed programme from April 27 to April 30 2023.
More than 30 Slovenian authors, translators, illustrators and editors will take part in the Leipzig Book Fair programme. Slovenian authors Esad Babačić, Andrej Blatnik, Miljana Cunta, Stanka Hrastelj, Manica K. Musil, Boris Kolar, Jela Krečič, Cvetka Lipuš, Ana Marwan, Jernej Mlekuž, Gregor Podlogar, Uroš Prah, Anja Štefan, Agata Tomažič, Anja Zag Golob and Slavoj Žižek, with a special focus on Slavko Grum, Alma M.
