New Delhi World Book Fair – Events with Slovenian Authors

European Union will be Guest of Honour at the forthcoming New Delhi World Book Fair. 17 member states will collaborate and present a joint European Programme, among them: Slovenia, Hungary, Poland, Denmark, Italy, Germany, Portugal, France, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland, Cyprus, Belgium, Austria, Czech Republic, Lithuania and Slovakia.
There are 6 Slovenian authors participating, and 4 Slovenian publishers are attending the fair. The programme and the activities are coordinated by the Slovenian Book Agency.
We will be happy to meet you at the Slovenian booth, part of the EU Pavilion.

Fabjan Hafner Prize for Exceptional Translations (German-Slovenian/Slovenian-German)
Goethe-Institute in cooperation with the Literary Colloquium Berlin (LCB) and Musil-Institute from Klagenfurt in Austria presents the first Fabjan Hafner Prize that will be awarded to the best translators from German to Slovenian and from Slovenian to German.
The Fabjan Hafner Prize for the best translation of the past two years from German into Slovenian was awarded for the first time at the Slovenian Book Fair in Ljubljana in November 2017. The Prize was given to Slovenian translator Štefan Vevar for his translation of the novel "The Rings of Saturn" by German author Winfried Sebald.
In 2018 the Fabjan Hafner Prize will be given for a translation into German. The Prize will be conferred on 16 March 2018 at Leipzig Book Fair (15-18 March 2018).
The initiative for the prize was launched by the Goethe Institute and the Slovenian Book Agency as part of preparations for Slovenia’s appearance as the Guest of Honour at Frankfurt Book Fair 2022.
The prize is named after the all too early departed important translator, poet, literary scientist and lecturer Fabjan Hafner (1966-2016).

German-Speaking Publishers and Journalists Inspired by Slovenia Once Again
The study visit for foreign publishers and journalists organised by the Slovenian Book Agency (JAK) aims attention at acquainting the international community with Slovenia and the country’s literary exploits.
As part of the preparatory activities prior to the project “Slovenia – Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair”, the Slovenian Book Agency (JAK) hosted the third annual study visit for German-speaking publishers and journalists between 23 and 26 November 2017. The visit was included in the programme of the 2017 Slovenian Book Fair.
