European Reading Surveys in 2023 and 2024
Participants: Christoph Bläsi (Germany), Alenka Kepic Mohar (Slovenia),  Bruno Giancarli (Italia), Angus Phillips (Great Britain)
Moderated by Miha KovaÄ (Slovenia)
In the past two years, several studies on reading habits have been conducted in Europe with unified questionaries. This panel will discuss the results of these studies, the differences between them, the reasons for these differences, and the various reactions to their results. In addition, benefits of a unified methodology in reading surveys and the methodological challenges posed by the rapid growth in audiobook listening will be discussed. In this context, two important questions will be addressed: what good is in these surveys for publishers? And what can we learn if we read results of reading survey in combination with publishing statistics?
